Thank You Mark!

I have been adding my childhood collections to Blue Aventurine’s Etsy shop now for months. Today, I decided to put my last electronic game up for sale. 2XL was going up for grabs along with all the others who used to live in my toy closet. It makes no sense to keep the games, dolls, and play things packed away in a box. The movie(s) Toy Story pulled on my heart strings over the years making a sealed cardboard container a type of tomb. Liberating many of these cherished possessions has lifted excitement only toys can bring to people of all ages.

Before I list an item, an inspection happens making sure the buyer will be getting the treasure they are hoping for. Plugged in my old friend to check his signs of life. No lights in his eyes, no 1978 cute robot sounds from the speaker, no crackle of turing the volume up, no life. Drag. Not giving up, I fed him an 8-track tape, then turned the knob hoping to resuscitate my buddy. Yes! I could hear the motor moving! One of his lights was glowing. Not enough to deem 2XL alive though. I preformed a few common troubleshoots to no avail. I pulled the plug and sat on the floor with him like I had done so many years in the past.

The one person who could preform a mechanical miracle is my cousin Mark. With tears swelling in my eyes, I need to correct the sentence and rewrite, “was my cousin Mark”. This man could talk to electronics, such a scientist. Today the family pinball machine and shuffle board bowling machine are in working order, when they break down again I fear the gaming will cease. 2XL had no chance in coming back because there was no electric doctor to physically call up. Grief comes in waves. Another shift with life, another change, another aspect of love, another tear coupled with a tissue.

An hour or so later, I built up the courage to continue with listing the late 70’s fascination. Figured I would plug him for a picture. Always good to show the levels of working order for those out there with a doctorate in electronic gadgets. 2XL’s brain indicator (red dot on the forehead aka third eye) did light up indicating juice flowing. The picture would not reflect the slow drone of the motor but I could explain the sound in the description. I staged the first shot to depict all that would be had when the Etsy buyer found my grammar school friend. A twist of the dial to the right getting the brain activated coupled with a skooch back from me to take a picture. Could it be? Are you kidding me? Really? The wave of memories from minutes on top of minutes of wonder, the long spans of companionship… Etsy will not be gaining another toy today.

Mechanics coming to life again has only happened to me one other time. I do consider both reactivations to fit into the miracle category. Over the years, I’ve learned anything is possible. I am very happy to share my cousin’s spirit achievements of tinkering with physical things back here on earth. Thank you Mark for fixing 2XL. My brother’s kids are still young enough to enjoy the magic careful, thought-out programing along with basic  electronic engineering can create. Grateful, honored, and heartfelt love Mark. Thank you again.

The Code: Intenders Circle

51RZtzd3XNL._SX327_BO1,204,203,200_

A good friend of mind has created a group which is following the practices of Tony Burroughs. This gathering has us meeting about once a month to state intentions thought up to help make for a better future for all. A deliberate attempt is made to voice in front of an audience as well as for us to hear our own desires, specific qualities, dreams, wishes, and goals. Being cautious to speak in the present with direction towards the future, positive affirmations are cast.

In the coming year, I will write about each of the ten intentions for a better world. I am not even past chapter one and loving the book. There is something special when words taken in by sight cause emotions bringing tears.

Shamanism, a Brief Overview

Oak

Shamanism teaches us how to use gifts nature has to offer. Nature, the oldest teacher and constant example of life, growth, inspiration, beauty, determination, and manufacturing energy. Everything has something special to share and this includes which we cannot see with the naked eye. The plants, rocks, space, elements, and animals do influence how we act and feel, so turning to them to assist us with healing will alter our well being for a better life and world. Be respectful and mindful of how you treat every part of nature. Friendships are important during all parts of our cycles.

Joyful Noise

Wanting sound around me close to every minute of the day, my need to share this was just about as strong!

Joyful Noise
Lent 16

“Hello, darkness, my old friend.” It may seem like an odd way to start an article about sound but these words were the opening to one of the most iconic songs of the latter half of the twentieth century. It may seem like it would have been better suited as the opening for yesterday’s article about meditation but the silence before the song can be very powerful. It prepares us. It calms us. It provides just enough disorientation that when the sound begins, we are instantly grounded.

Often, in our search to find some calm or peace, we encounter chaos. Instead of heavenly sounds we have nerve-racking noise. While most would agree that a general definition of the word “noise” would be something unpleasant, it is interesting that the word comes from two words that had nothing at all to do with sound in general or…

Things that Bring You Comfort, Metaphysically Speaking (part three)

CookieJewelry

Jewelry tends to be worn in close contact with one’s body. This personal connection is different from a stuffed animal’s power yet not do not think it any less. Many of us want to hold something to trigger a memory or receive comfort, typically from a person who has passed on. Objects are further given positive reinforcement by our need to feel love. When jewelry is handed down by generations it carries unique energies stemming from the original owner. A blend of old traditions, beliefs, blood lines, journeys, all enabling the heirloom to become an evolving mastery of life.

These comfort items will always encapsulate the intentions granted onto them for as long as they are in existence. I like to think when I parted with my childhood stuffed animals, the love inside melted down, into the earth. If my cloth companions got incinerated I wished the smoke and vapors blended with the air. As I unpack boxes featuring my ancestors glassware, the importance and pride is not lost on me. Jewelry shared from my mother makes me feel stronger in my core either wearing or simply looking at the gems. Since everything is energy, why not always build an energetic wave in a positive manor? Keep or send comfort things away with love and joy always.

Things that Bring You Comfort, Metaphysically Speaking (part two)

QBunny

The easiest comfort qualifier, filled with love comes from our childhood. Most likely you still have something, a stuffed animal or a blanket you once held close when you were an infant. Cute nick names are often given to prized possessions setting them apart from other common cuddles. As you aged, that wooby or Mr. Flopsy got a little ragged yet gained more importance over the months.

Any item can be infused with love, regardless of the material it is made out of. Of course some compounds are easier permeated allowing the emotion to carry throughout; an example being cotton verses plastic. Gifts of stuffed animals or homemade blankets tend to be the goto items of our early days. Our caretakers recognize the soothing that happens when we are given our favorite. The softness of a worn blanket against a cheek or covering our little bodies is just the right remedy for what ails us emotionally. Love is an energy which weaves around items not lost on the children who feel and see so effortlessly.

Do you still have something from the toddler years?

Things that Bring You Comfort, Metaphysically Speaking (part one)

Since I believe that many things we can add to our lives in order to improve our life style, I would like to write about items and why (or how) they bring us comfort. I was talking to a friend about why I love my journal so much. It is simply because with it, I am myself. This is the only place where I fully and totally honest. With my diary, I am my true self and feel safe being so. No judgement, no replies or suggestions, no correcting or interjections, no expectations… simply a place to share, dump and unwind. My own choice of words and grammar rules along with my own style of handwriting. Freedom to be who I am, expressing my day’s events and situations.

An object will take on the intended personality we assign to it. Usually the best lovin’ vibes start when you are gifted something. Any gift is usually a token of appreciation passed to another with love. My first journal was a gift from an adult friend. She must have been in her early late 20’s and I was nearing 18. This empty paged book carried with it an intention of bringing comfort or joy to me during my struggles with early adulthood. A wish was cast with hopes of helping me sort things out. Add to the excitement of gratitude and proper care… voila, a magical X has now appeared. You now possess a special item ready go on a journey with you as a source of remembrance and assistance.

Without Voice-boxes Come Voices from Nature

My relationship with the mineral kingdom keeps on growing as I learn more and develop my bond with nature. Each day I learn more of who I am, deep within my soul. Several months ago, a video was brought to my attention of a boy (aged 7) talking about crystals grids. I watched the video with tears in my eyes from the amazement of knowledge he spoke with. HIs relationship with rocks was similar to mine, the difference was he talked so openly and freely about it where as I tend to keep to myself. He has gotten a lot of recognition and developed his voice as more videos have been recorded. I’m sure you will enjoy looking up articles and events he is part of. Adam, The Crystal Grid Maker, has helped me realize the conversations or inner truths do happen as easily as we breath.

Experiencing the Joy from Dreams

Taking the time to stop and see the joy!

Walt Disney World, one of the happiest places in the world! My husband and I are fresh back from a 5 day vacation. We jetted over to see the holiday lights and absorb some sunshine. I knew the time spent would be spectacular but I was not expecting the overwhelming joy, overflowing into tears, so often.

Mr. and Mrs. took time out of their schedule to spend time with us!

Music fills the air, smiles are plentiful, weather showing off, smells circling noses, eyes registering splendor…

Magic happens at Disney every second!

Countries all over celebrate during the winter months.

There is something that place brings about sheer happiness within and without. The feeling of specialness the park, resorts, and employees share with those of us visiting would make the grumpiest person warm inside.

We visited happy and left even happier!

Rock Shows: The Heavy Kind

A good flow of people and not so packed it's uncomfortable. Local rock shows are a great place to mingle with like minded people and pick up some choice possessions to add (or start) a rock collection!
A good flow of people and not so packed it’s uncomfortable. Local rock shows are a great place to mingle with like minded people and pick up some choice possessions to add to (or start) a rock collection!

October is the month for my local rock show. I have been a member of the club coming close to a decade now. Last year I stepped down from the role of Vice President of Special Events, a title I held for 6 years. It is always good to change things up and give someone else a chance to make a difference. I am still very active in the goings on and will be volunteering for the up coming show, as I have done for past events. My parents told me we went as a family to the rock club’s show in it’s beginning days, which I have vague memories of. None of us were ever members and it wasn’t until my adult years I joined. Not sure if either of my parents thought I would turn into the crystal believer I am today? A big take away from the years involved with the club is a better understanding of nature. Some things us humans and nature (I’m looking at you mineral kingdom) have in common is noticing, being around to witness change. The ability to see life unfold, develop and then choosing to contribute or be passive with the states of maturity. I believe both life forces offer opportunities, the choice to either release energy or remain quiet.

I have attended a few different shows around New England and still rank my club’s as one of the top 3. The mecca of all rock shows is held during the month of February in Arizona. Everyone tells me I have to go, “There is nothing like it, yards and yards, football fields upon football fields of rocks!” they say. To me rock shows are basically all the same. It’s a coming together, celebrating the majestic-ness found within the earth, under one roof. Some show’s house hundreds of dealers while others have a handful. The conclusion I have come to in regards to a show, size doesn’t matter. Square footage is not the issue, is not the success meter of a show. A good focus for a rock show with heart is who collects the minerals, how they are displayed, traveling conditions, health of the dealers, reasons for selling, location of venue, staff running the show… theses are the things that keep me coming back.

Many shows have spectacular displays featuring larger scaled beauties. Sometimes the displays are to showcase a theme throughout the show. Other reasons simply need no other excuse but to show off the mineral and share the spender which took years to create!

I’m drawn to those who care about their goods quicker than those who don’t have the right things invested working with mother earth. I believe nature looks up to us, fingers always crossed we do better tomorrow. The rocks are her children, the oldest children with the most wisdom and assistance to give to others. People don’t have to buy into the metaphysical aspects of the crystals. Dealers should be respectful and honor the mineral helping with their livelihood. Buyers should be aware of what they are purchasing, especially marveling over the age of the specimen in hand. Love what you have and look forward to sharing with others to bring about more joy and knowledge. Give your local rock show a try. Stop by and visit the information booth about the club hosting the show, you never know what you might unearth!
