Never Give Up… Someday

I sell wands at various metaphysical fairs on the East Coast, bringing extra magic into people’s lives. There is one person in particular who has helped spread the word of Blue Aventurine’s wands up and down the coast and her name is Jess Steinman. Not only do I have a privilege of calling her a best friend, Jess’s mediumship gift is impressive along with her dazzling teaching techniques igniting the psychic in all of us. My most recent outdoor venture was at Hilltown Holistic Center in Greenfield MA, which of course was suggested by Jess.

As the day passed, I got up from behind my sparkly table to stretch my legs. I complimented a woman on her uniquely patterned blue and grey dress. After, “Thank you” she asked me if I was the one who sells wands. “I just had a reading by Jess and she told me to seek you out and ask about a meditation wand.” Trying hard not to freak out, making a strong attempt to remain professional, I bleated out, “I have it for you!” Her wand had been patiently waiting about 7 years for her and was among my wears of the day.

Her Meditation Wand was titled just that and was one of the first wands I made for retail and the wand had gone on consignment as well as being packed up and displayed at various craft fairs over the years. I was ecstatic to finally match up the right person to wield this magnificent wand. The story of the Meditation Wand can continue for 3 more pages but the point I wanted to make is how the power behind wands is one to be marveled at. It’s been several weeks now since the event and I still am getting wowed from how all the pieces came together to unite these two. The best takeaway from the story is to listen to your intuition, don’t second guess the impulses when nudged to push yourself for the greater good of us all.

In all fairy fairness, they need to know too.

Today was different for me. Later on tonight, my husband and I will be signing a contract to move into a condo a few miles down the road, in another town. For better part of the morning I could not stop crying. After reflecting on my emotions a bit more, I realized it was not all me. I was picking up on other emotions running high in my general area. The elementals in the yard were wondering what was going on. They had been piecing together snippets of conversations from inside of the house along with other events not typical everyday going ons. The meltdown I was experiencing prompted a phone call from my husband to find out if I was OK or not. We had been Emailing a few times during the morning hours. He was exactly the person I needed to talk with. Reflecting on the emotions and conversation, it was more like him listening to me explain how difficult it is to part with my friends in the yard.

The landscape here, presently, is not manicured, not much lawn and a whole lot of rock. We have cut down trees to assist with the overall look and health of the land. Bushes, flowers and other plants have come in with the assistance of the animals. It’s pretty in a natural habitat type of way. The wildlife is very comfortable here, foxes have been spied sunning themselves in the driveway and deer have bedded down in the back yard for an afternoon siesta.

whole lot of rocks

Because I wanted to make sure everyone (by everyone, I mean the elementals) was on the same page and getting the information correctly. It was up to me to step outside and explain what was going to be happening in the next few weeks. To make sure my voice was heard clearly, I thought to use some wands. Twice, at different times within a half hour, I stepped out onto the back deck with the Fairy Wand in one hand and the Quartz Point Amplifier Wand in the other. My goal was to explain what was what because they should be privy to how their life is going to be effected and what changes will be happing to them too.

“Hello, I wanted you to hear it from me so you have a better understanding of what will be going on with this house and your land in the coming months. We are going to be moving to another house. Many of the rocks and other fun items I’ve shared with you over the time together here will stay. Another owner will be moving into this house and we will make sure they will be a match for you.

In the new home, I will put a few bottles on the trees, toss some buttons in the yard and greet you often, like I do here. Please let your cousins know we will be visiting them soon AND know you are always welcome to come over and play. I love you all so very, very much and appreciate all the love you have always given back to me, over the years.”

I made sure I went into the front yard to explain the human happenings again. Every direction will have a different vibe to it but for me I typically address the front and the back of the yard. The sense I get from the front yard is more serious to me, kind of an elder feeling whereas the back yard is a bunch of rambunctious silly heads! For some reason, the conversation turned to a question and answer session. I answered the enquires even though many of them were repeats from what I just said out loud. My inner understanding of elemental proper communication is by sound and intense emotional expression. I stared to point the wands to areas with hopes of conveying what my human words were sounding with hopes of being understood.

The two signs that helped me feel stronger with it all were received from both the front and back yard. In the back, the second time I stepped out onto the deck, a gust of wind brought down some light snow. This sprinkling of flakes shown like glitter in the sunlight and lightly brushed against my face and body. “Fairy dust!” I though in my mind as tears welled up once again with joy, love and appreciation. From the front, during the Q&A session, I was asked what I would be taking with us. More specifically, what yard ornaments would be going to the new residence. I started pointing the wands to items as I answered. As I was just about to indicate the chakra wind chime, one of the stones struck the metal bar. “Yes, I will be taking that wind chime with us!” I said out loud.

Listen to the trees, for they have a lot to say.

New Englander’s can’t help but marvel at the trees that fill our landscape. This part of the country is known for it’s amazing foliage come the fall season. Trees are the primary producers in ecosystems which serve so many functions in this world. Next time you need some advice or plan on meditating, go outside and listen to a tree, for they have a lot to say.

Become still near a tree; hush your mind and relax. Focus your awareness on the tree, touch it with your physical hand and make your other senses available to envelop it’s majesty. Introduce yourself, as you would another living thing, and extend common courtesy, like a flattering complement. Ask a question that only a tree would have vast wisdom about, remember they are always observing. Settle into a meditative state and have a conversation with the tree. Don’t forget to give thanks when it is time to part as you would a dear friend. You will most likely be walking in greater awareness for the rest of the day because you have a new confidant on the earth.

If you can believe that everything is energy based (objects contain a specific amount of life force) and that all matter has some type of conscience within… then you understand that everything we come across throughout our day, is important for our well-being. Paying attention to one thing, no matter how big or small, allows other objects, situations, events, and life to become clearer in a way that makes perfect sense.

Say Whaaat? A Communication with Plants

I wish I knew how a translator’s mind works. I am sure practicing has a lot to do with the ease of deciphering one language from another, then repeating it in a different tongue. It took me awhile to figure out what was going on when another voice popped into my thoughts. As a child, it was considered an active imagination but there was something so real about the sensation. Sesame Street was (is) real, there were adults interacting with Muppets. It makes sense that all things want to be heard, they have something to say. Why couldn’t other things have a voice? The plant kingdom is alive by many scientific properties, right? Communication can happen in several unique ways, right?

A few years ago I was gardening, on our non-manicured property. While trimming a 40+ year old holly bush, I thought to myself, “Wonder if the plant minds? Wonder how long it hurts for when it’s cut?”.  As effortlessly as I enquired, a voice came back to me, “Don’t mind, just don’t rip and tear.” Well, duh, that makes sense, “Sure” I thought in response cause it seemed fair enough. I will pay more attention to how I prune and cut, “agreed”, I agreed.

Say Whaaat! Wait a minute… what just happened?

Yep, I started to freak out a little. Anyone watching me would not realize the immediate concern because it simply would have looked like I put down my clippers and stood up to take a break and admire my pruning work. I remembered turning 21 in college and finding great relief from my psych 101 notes about mental illness. I did hear a voice, that was not my own. It was the voice of the holly bush. I am not a child anymore and it’s not my imagination. The holly plant communicated with me! I had translated what it wanted to convey to me per the mental question I asked.

Now I go around letting people know not to rip and tear the plants when cutting or pruning, just snip clean through. Sometimes I tell them how I know this information (what I just shared with you) and other times I mention it’s what I learned when I was working for the local nursery. Either way, I hope the plant kingdom continues it’s open communication, we just need to be still and listen.
