Shamanism, a Brief Overview

Oak

Shamanism teaches us how to use gifts nature has to offer. Nature, the oldest teacher and constant example of life, growth, inspiration, beauty, determination, and manufacturing energy. Everything has something special to share and this includes which we cannot see with the naked eye. The plants, rocks, space, elements, and animals do influence how we act and feel, so turning to them to assist us with healing will alter our well being for a better life and world. Be respectful and mindful of how you treat every part of nature. Friendships are important during all parts of our cycles.

February is Love Month!

February-Month-of-Love-1-300x245

For the calendar’s L-O-V-E month, I thought I would offer up a caring deal for those of you seeking energy work.

There are a few choices you have for taking me up on a reduced session this month. Being local to CT makes holding a face to face meeting something we can plan for. I wrote about what to expect from spending an hour with me on WordPress several years back. Every experience is different as is every time we work together. I have changed my craft but the base, the main components are still the same. What you may find different with me verses other practitioners you have encountered is my willingness to listen to my intuition, guides, and guest speakers.

If travel around Connecticut U.S.A is not in your future, please know there are other ways we can communicate sending healing energies your way. Everyone, no matter where they live or what extra time their calendar allows can benefit from remote work. Energy is free flowing. We know it works well through power lines being noticeable throughout our landscape with large power stations and transformers. Like radio waves, broadcasting or beaming healing energy shares a similar movement though the air. I wrote a short piece on this blog recently about the Reiki practice of formulating a grid. Another way to transmit messages and helpful inspirations is though shaman journeying.

Either way you choose energy work, I am sure you will find it fun and helpful on many levels. If interested, I can go into more detail in the comments area. Please know we can chat privately by Email too.

An Ask on Facebook’s Blue Aventurine Page

Keeping up with my shaman practices, I wanted to do a journey today and figured I would ask the people on Facebook if they had a question I could seek an answer to. Nothing personal but a broad ask that everyone could benefit from. Two separate journey’s were done with the responses I received. The messages were important enough to share here too.

Blue Aventurine, Disney

The first question was combined from two people, revolved around the state of the earth. More specific, Mother Earth’s rumblings of late. What should the light-workers be doing to better serve the earth? How to go about patching up the great divide and or confusion over how we (human race) can best serve our communities and the earth?

I did a half hour upper and lower world journey to bring back a message. To be honest, I have a hard time tapping into the earth. Not because of the lack of love, compassion, and yearning to do right by her but more so the pain and turmoil endured by mother nature is felt deeply in my core. My connection to the earth is strong and respectful. The answers to the questions were not surprising to me and I’m betcha you already know in your core what the replies will be.

Beginning in the lower world, I met up with my power animal. We went to a place green and lush to rest near a small clear body of water. This was a reflecting pool where we thought about our lives and the impact on others, including nature. In my opinion, focusing on our actions (what we do) will bring help easily to and for the earth. This can be obtained with little effort on our part if we always come from a place of love. Reflection is important within and without to move forward smartly, for everyone and everything concerned.

Animals are very much so being effected and affected regarding the health of nature. Turning to our pets or witnessing activity of outdoor wildlife holds messages from the earth. Take time to sit, watch and listen to surroundings.

Moving from the lower world to the upper with my power animal, several minutes passed to show me a better definition of  balance. This state of flux is always in play. For every good there is a bad. This is necessary and natural to occur in nature. The balance needs to be continual, perpetual. Nature has always lived this way and will keep on shifting to benefit earth’s well being. We cannot and will never fool mother nature, she is way to smart and should not be toyed with.

BA Gambling with pennies

The second shaman journey from a Facebook suggestion was to ask, how can we end the disparity between the haves and the have-nots in our world? How can we reframe our value system? Example, sports and entertainment celebrities are not exorbitantly over valued verses teachers, social or other public workers?

This time I went straight to the upper world for an answer from my spirit guide. My hand was quickly held and lead over to a table to play chess. This symbolism was to demonstrate how calculating and involved the topic of money can be to the masses. The next vision shown was a controlling dam holding back water. Steadily the water breached the dam and the current found a different route to get to where it wanted to go despite the obstacle. There is power in money, force and pressure too. It  is best to let money go where it needs to go. The path of least resistance is always best!

When I asked again about money, a blackboard appeared in grammar school fashion. Education is the way to level out the financial playing field. Not only for the up and coming adults but for us adults right now. Use what you can to educate yourself and others. Allow money discrepancies to be brought out into the open, thus helping to bring a balance for fairness and justice for all to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle.

The journeys are always filled with symbolism. Perhaps a word or two will strike a cord with you and create a different interpretation than how I understood the visions. Happy to continue the conversation in comments always!

A Weekend of Death, Dying, and Beyond

Medicine Man, Performing His Mysteries over a ...

A few weekends ago I attend another advanced shaman class. This one was titled Death, Dying, and Beyond. These series are from the Foundation of Shamanic Studies as developed by Michael Harner. The course I took was taught by Nan Moss and David Corbin. I forget how I originally heard about Nan and Dave, perhaps Weather Shamanism caught my attention once while searching around the Internet. The workshops I’ve taken with the dynamic duo have been phenomenal not to mention extremely helpful in the energy work I conduct for myself along with others. This last one, I knew was going to be emotionally challenging but essential for my spiritual growth and understanding of shamanism.

The workshops are something to be experienced, writing about them feels out of context. The understanding gained is thrilling but hard to explain in type. Nevertheless, I did want to share some of what I’ve come to believe with you because it is useful for all of us.

From my notes taken during class discussion and after journeying (a form of meditation) here are some key points around the topic of death, dying, and beyond:

Bat

Tried viewing or understanding the end of this life differently; thinking of death as another state of existence. I was able to learn from a bat, during a lower word journey, that the world is not just understood by a human’s existence. Animals and other kingdoms go though life and death with all sorts of understandings from how they operate (get on in this lifetime). I was taught about opportunities to view the world upside-down, use other senses than our eyes, and the importance of movements in the dark. Then, to top the lesson off, I realized a bat is classified as a mammal making the lesson heavier to this mammal.

Another take on the topic of death, dying, and beyond is the belief gained about levels of a soul’s journey when the body is no longer living. The class meditation was done individually by the group and then those who wanted to share their experience afterwards did so in circle. Many people, including myself, witnessed in our dream like state, types of places where souls were waiting or learning or regrouping or figuring out just what is going on. Yes, we can interact with those on the other side. I have done it a few times pryer to this workshop but it was good to get a stronger base of how to conduct the meetings, so to speak.

A piece of the weekend’s wisdom sticking with me is realizing my death is important. It is a normal phrase of life. When I pass on, the people who love me are challenged to adjust their lives allowing them to grow and fulfill what they intended to do when they came into this world. Typically my guides and spirit helpers always put in something light hearted to help me with the seriousness of it all. With realizing death is part of the cycle, it was pointed out how my death creates jobs for others as well, ha! Funny cause there is truth there too!

Another Incentive For Us All to Communicate More

Please note, the forum is no longer in existence. Thank you to all that have participated over the years.

There is a forum I moderate. The Blue Aventurine group would like more participants on the forum, making it more active. As an incentive to join up and post, there are two offers for the month of September:

If you post 10 times before the end of September, a shamanic journey will be done on your behalf and reported back to you.
If you post 20 times, a wand will be taylor made for you.

You can learn more about shamanism and wands by poking around here at WordPress.Going to http://www.BlueAventurine.com/forum will give you more information about the perks to posting. Either way, please always contribute what you can to make society a better place for all of us to live.

Shaman, Shamanism, Shamanship, Shamanhood.

If anything in the metaphysical realm calls to me, it is the natural influence and magical aspects of all the ancestral shamanism. A quick wikipedia explanation of shamanism, “is a practice that involves a practitioner reaching altered states of consciousness in order to encounter and interact with the spirit world. A shaman is a person regarded as having access to, and influence in, the world of benevolent and malevolent spirits, who typically enters into a trance state during a ritual, and practices divination and healing.”

Because of my background and current path, I would be considered a neoshaman, especially from those taking the tradition very seriously. I’ve never been in the physical presents of an actual shaman but I do consider some people I know shamans even though they would fall under the title of neoshaman. A friend of mine (shaman by my standards) has developed a type of healing practice I was fortunate to experience a few months ago. The next day after the session was of a feeling I haven’t had since I was a child. The feeling was of happiness, pure joy and elation. No pills, no smoking anything, no drinking and no hypnotism. He and his partner called on the spirits of nature and mixed their influence with what they deem to be true and shifted my energy for the positive.

Some of my favorite parts of shamanship is the bond with nature. I have always said hello to the trees, rocks, even the  weather. Now in my adulthood, the greetings and communications are less playful. The changes in talks seem to want to teach or share wisdom from another level of existence. To me, the voices I hear are linked to a source that don’t seem to have vocal cords. In my opinion, the other beings work really hard to get their voice to me. Psychokinesisis another way of explaining the influx of energy waves changed into sounds that I can comprehend. The skeptic in me wonders how people who claim to converse with nature can hear the same thing despite speaking a different language? Is it that German trees talk in German because it’s their native land or is it the trees are so smart and wise they can communicate in every known language? Regardless, I believe I can talk to living things and get feelings from inanimate objects.

Tools to Assist: Divination

Everyone uses some type of tool to get a job started or completed. Over the years and throughout our life experiences, we learn about all sorts of handy objects to assist us with projects.

Divination was taught to me over a year ago, it is a new process for me, well at least I thought it was. While writing this piece, I’ve realized I have stared at inanimate objects all my life. What was missing was the intention to notice messages coming though.

The August Blue Moon has caused a few different psychic effects for me. Usually the moon influences me two days before totality and 2 days after. Saturday night, the call to gaze into a piece of Blue Aventurine had to be heeded. Using this tool to look into the future and call bits of wisdom to my attention, would be my third time using the divination process.

The messages I got from simply clearing my mind and listening to the first thought or voice that came forward:

Glimmer, glimmer of hope (my interpretation, keep on dreaming)

All things in stride (all is fine, all will unfold in time)

Clean it up (choose better foods for my body)

Go deeper (keep on seeking understanding)
