The Code: Intenders Circle

A good friend of mind has created a group which is following the practices of Tony Burroughs. This gathering has us meeting about once a month to state intentions thought up to help make for a better future for all. A deliberate attempt is made to voice in front of an audience as well as for us to hear our own desires, specific qualities, dreams, wishes, and goals. Being cautious to speak in the present with direction towards the future, positive affirmations are cast.

In the coming year, I will write about each of the ten intentions for a better world. I am not even past chapter one and loving the book. There is something special when words taken in by sight cause emotions bringing tears.

Things that Bring You Comfort, Metaphysically Speaking (part one)

Since I believe that many things we can add to our lives in order to improve our life style, I would like to write about items and why (or how) they bring us comfort. I was talking to a friend about why I love my journal so much. It is simply because with it, I am myself. This is the only place where I fully and totally honest. With my diary, I am my true self and feel safe being so. No judgement, no replies or suggestions, no correcting or interjections, no expectations… simply a place to share, dump and unwind. My own choice of words and grammar rules along with my own style of handwriting. Freedom to be who I am, expressing my day’s events and situations.

An object will take on the intended personality we assign to it. Usually the best lovin’ vibes start when you are gifted something. Any gift is usually a token of appreciation passed to another with love. My first journal was a gift from an adult friend. She must have been in her early late 20’s and I was nearing 18. This empty paged book carried with it an intention of bringing comfort or joy to me during my struggles with early adulthood. A wish was cast with hopes of helping me sort things out. Add to the excitement of gratitude and proper care… voila, a magical X has now appeared. You now possess a special item ready go on a journey with you as a source of remembrance and assistance.

My take on magic wands.

For the past few years, I’ve conducted wand making workshops. The store where I’m offering my home-based workshops would like a demonstration of how to use a wand in energy work. Next month I will be holding a workshop introducing wand work to people who are interested. I plan on bringing the handout I give to the making group and will use that as my blue index cards. I would like to make it very causal with lots of participation, actually this is how I conduct many of my workshops. Below is a writing on wands and pretty close to what one would expect from attending.

I crafted my own wand because I wanted one and could not find any that seemed right for me, as simple as that. I don’t belong to a specific religious group or craft, I wanted something that would amplify my wishes and needed a wand.

In my bag of White Sage there was a stem about 7 inches long. I found it by unraveling one of my sage bundles. That seemed to be the perfect base for a wand, especially since White Sage has clearing properties and would be beneficial to keep the wand clear at all times. I am against using glue (another reason for not purchasing in shops) therefore beads would be strung and wrapped around. Looking through my life long bead collection I chose ones I loved, making sure a variety was incorporated ensuring the most magic and beauty a wand could contain.

“What can you use a wand for?” is a common question I’m asked. Again, the answer is simple, “What ever your heart desires!” I use the wand above to make wishes. When I need support, the wand travels with me. Sitting on the kitchen window sill fills the wand with energy and sparkles when the sun hits it just right. My wands make me happy and feeling special. Taking aim at what I’m striving to achieve is more doable with a wand in hand.

There are several I have crafted for myself and several I have given as gifts, along with consigning them. All are unique, even those that seem to be similar in color or structure had a different feeling about them. I have developed a wand making workshop, none of those are quite the same either. The amazement and joy I get from hosting a workshop or adorning a tree branch is something to be experienced because it’s difficult to put it into words. I’ve tried to give descriptions for advertising and have worked on signage for displays but it really is something to participate in to get the full understanding.

A list of my personal wands to date:

My First Wand     (rewrapped once cause of a life lesson learned)

Ancestor Wand   (adorned with button collections of women present and past)

Fairy Wand          (sparkles, shimmers and dangling chip stones)

Quarts Point Wand     (nickname, The Amplifier)

ChakraWand       (Rainbow chip stones and glass seed beads)

Elemental-Series-Wands  (Earth, Fire and Water are completed)

Why Should I Own a Wand?

The base of this wand is a White Sage stem

This is a question I get asked a lot from people and I hesitate because the answer varies from minute to minute,  person to person. To put it simply, a wand is an extension of who you are and what you can be. They are great for making wishes and getting your point across with gusto. If you think of it, when someone is talking and begins to point they are adding physical punctuation to their story. A finger wag equals more emphasis on what is spoken. Presenters behind a podium are asked to hold down their index finger with the thumb to control their natural wand, I mean to eliminate pointing at anyone. Substitute a wand for that finger and watch out people a  bold statement is directed your way, resonating in every direction.

Another reason to own a wand is for support. I turn to my wands for courage and confidence in many matters. I have various sized wands all created with different intentions. As the days go by the wands get stronger and wiser just like someone who is learning, wanting to improve with every day that goes by. There are several wands I have crafted for myself and several I have given as gifts along with consigning some. All are unique, even those that seem to be similar in color or structure have a different feeling about them, kind of like the way good family and friends are.

I’ve developed a wand making workshop, none of those are quite the same either. The amazement and joy I get from hosting a workshop or adorning a tree branch is something to be experienced. I’ve give descriptions for advertising and have worked on signage for displays but it really is something to participate in to get the full understanding of owning a wand. There is a journey that happens specific for the individual while a relationship is wrapped around what appears to be an inanimate object. A bond is formed before a base is chosen and stone beads are picked out. The action of creating the wand weaves magic, mixing joy and surprise. The finished product is very personal because a lot of who you are and what you want to become and accomplish is what the wand has become an extension of yourself.
